FoodHub is a web-based, free-content Vocational Education and Training (VET) resource project to support workforce skills development in the Australian Food Industry.
An initiative of the NSW Food Industry Training Council (NSWFITC), FoodHub is a wiki, based on the Wikipedia concept, whereby content can be written collaboratively by volunteers around Australia and beyond. Anyone with access to the internet is welcome to log-in to add objective, IP-free information, cross-references or images that will benefit the delivery and assessment of accredited food industry training and skills recognition under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF 2007).
The intent of FoodHub is to build a community dedicated to the creation and use of learning resources and associated reference materials, based on food industry competency standards from relevant national Training Packages to assist students, workers, enterprises and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
FoodHub introduces Web 2.0 technology, characterised by the new literacies of inclusion, collaboration and participation, to VET.
